Church in London to Arise
Let us arise and build and see what God will do for us. We can either be spectators or participators. We can either have the wait and see attitude or give ourselves passionately to prayer and God’s work and watch what happens. We need to ask God to revive our vision for this city of London and ask Him to show us what He is doing and then we must work with all our might! Prophetic fatigue has often immobilised the church, where we become cynical and feel we have done it all before and nothing happens. But I do believe that God is calling us to work for the harvest in London. So we must not let our past disappointments rob us of today’s harvest. Now is the time to arise – stand up – work and pray - and then have wild celebrations as we watch what God does as we work!
Key scriptures
(Isa 60:1-2 NIV) "Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you.
(Rom 13:11-12 NIV) And do this, understanding the present time. The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.
(Mark 14:37-38 NIV) Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. "Simon," he said to Peter, "are you asleep? Could you not keep watch for one hour? Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak."
(Neh 4:13-15 NIV) Therefore I stationed some of the people behind the lowest points of the wall at the exposed places, posting them by families, with their swords, spears and bows. After I looked things over, I stood up and said to the nobles, the officials and the rest of the people, "Don't be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes." When our enemies heard that we were aware of their plot and that God had frustrated it, we all returned to the wall, each to his own work.
Prayer points:
1. Ask God to show you if there is any area where you have lost your passion for Him or His work. Have you become cynical or tired in the work? Ask for fresh strength.
2. Pray for His glory to come in the dark areas – choose a pillar of society – like education – the justice system and pray for a turning of darkness to light in this area.
3. Pray for a fresh sense of His presence and glory on your life, on your neighbors, your work colleagues and in your locality. Pray for His glory to come in specific areas by name.
4. Pray for a fresh understanding of the season of urgency to come on the church of London. Ask God you give the church fresh revelation of the strategy for souls in this season. Use Romans 13:11 for prayer.
5. Pray for the army of workers and prayer warriors to arise. Pray for a fresh commitment from people to give themselves to God’s work.
6. Prayer for people to give one hour in prayer for London and for the watchman of the city to arise and pray.
7. Ask God for fresh revelation as people begin to Watch and pray over the city. Write down anything God shows you as you pray and then enter it on the London Prayer site.
8. Meditate on our God and how awesome He is. Then meditate on God our warrior and ask Him to train you to fight in prayer for your families and home.
9. Pray for the prodigals and those who have left their faith and their churches and ask God for a season of returning. Ask that we would return to our walls and our God given work at this time.
10. Lastly imagine London covered with the glory of God. Speak to London – Arise and Shine. Pray that London would be a city that once again carries the glory on God on her streets.
