2007 starts with prayer
As the New Year started people over the Capital were praying that 2007 would be a year where we see God's Kingdom coming and God's will being done in London in a new way. However, for one church in North-West London their prayers had a particular significance as they were the first church to pray as part of the Year for London.
I joined over 100 people in the early hours of January 1st at Jesus House, near Brent Cross as they met to pray. Together we lifted our prayer of "Thy Kingdom come, and Thy will be done" over different aspects of the city. In groups we prayed over London's schools, government, local authorities, youth, families, football clubs and health workers as well as many other topics. It was a great time of prayer and start to the year. As churches across London pray together in this way will surely see the city change.
A Year for London started on January 1st and will continue throughout 2007 with different churches taking on the responsibility for a day of continuous 24/7 prayer. After the first 7 days hundreds of people have gathered to pray for the capital across the city and 240 churches have signed up to take part in the Year for London. So far, participating churches are from all across London from Uxbridge in the West, Croydon in the South, Haringey in the North and Plaistow in the East - A Year for London is truely a London-wide event. |
